While some posts emphasize the importance of dietary management, the overall influence on practice or policy remains uncertain, hence a neutral impact score.
Abstract in brief
A five-year study comparing diets for preventing kidney stones in men with hypercalciuria found that a diet with normal calcium, reduced animal protein, and salt was more effective at preventing recurrences than the traditional low-calcium diet.
The study showed that fewer men experienced stone relapse on the normal-calcium, low-animal-protein, low-salt diet (12 out of 60) compared to the low-calcium diet group (23 out of 60), with a significant reduction in risk.
Both diets lowered urinary calcium levels, but the normal-calcium diet increased urinary oxalate slightly, while the low-calcium diet decreased it; overall, the combination of normal calcium with reduced animal protein and salt offered better protection against stones.]
He managed to perform two elegant RCT's that helped shape the current protocols of stone prevention in this very frequent disease.
He sadly passed away in 2018 but his achievements will be forever remembered.

@ThomasWales8 @CarnivoreMD It's a multi-component trial, so not designed to isolate the impact of any individual food. That said, the dairy effect is undeniable. Here is the link to the study.
