The discussions show a consistent consensus supported by multiple large-scale population studies, such as Honda et al. (2005), emphasizing that even with Japan's discontinuation of MMR vaccines, autism rates continued to rise. The tone and language—phrases like 'study proves the opposite', 'case closed', and 'lies aside'—highlight a confident stance against the vaccine-autism connection, aiming to dispel misinformation and reinforce scientific consensus.
AgreementStrong agreement
Most discussions strongly accept the study’s findings that withdrawal of MMR vaccines did not lead to a decrease in autism rates, often citing the Japanese studies as definitive evidence.
InterestHigh interest
Participants display high curiosity and concern about the vaccine-autism relationship, referencing multiple studies, data, and historical vaccine policies in Japan.
EngagementHigh engagement
Many contributors actively analyze and critique existing studies, quote researchers, and debate implications, demonstrating deep involvement in evaluating evidence.
ImpactHigh impact
The collective tone and references suggest these discussions aim to debunk myths linking vaccines to autism, influencing public opinions and informing policy debates.
Abstract in brief
The study investigated whether the withdrawal of the MMR vaccine in Yokohama, Japan, impacted the incidence of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and found no evidence that removing the vaccine reduced ASD cases.
Despite the decline in MMR vaccination rates after 1992, the incidence of ASD continued to increase, especially after 1993, suggesting no causal link between the vaccine and ASD.
The findings imply that MMR vaccination is unlikely to be a main cause of ASD, and stopping its use in countries where it is still administered is not expected to decrease ASD incidence.]
4/10: Critics of the MMR vaccine often cite Japan’s withdrawal as validation.
But here’s what didn't happen after MMR was suspended:
❌ No decrease in autism rates.
❌ No evidence that removing MMR reduced neuro-developmental issues.

@Avalanchejay22 @Richard89220241 @TristanSnell In the past, many autistic people were undiagnosed or misdiagnosed as schizophrenic, manic-depressive, etc. Over time, diagnostics improved and autistic people got enough help to live more normal lives (incl. having children), so rates rose.
