Abstract in brief

  • The study found that small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is more common in rosacea patients compared to healthy controls, indicating a potential link between gut bacteria and the skin condition.
  • Eradication of SIBO using rifaximin significantly improved rosacea symptoms, with many patients experiencing complete or substantial clearance of skin lesions, and these improvements lasted for at least 9 months.
  • The results suggest that treating SIBO might be an effective way to manage rosacea, highlighting the importance of gut bacteria in the development and persistence of this skin condition.]

@RDValerie for a small minority it seems https://t.co/EAqjaYA4xD Rifaximin eradicated SIBO in 45/52 (86.5%) of rosacea patients. At 9 months only 2 had a positive breath test & a rosacea flare. Another round cleared up their SIBO & rosacea I'd be psyched about this if I had rosacea :)
