Abstract in brief

  • The study found that ethanolic extract of propolis (EEP), rich in phenolic acids and flavonoids, can significantly enhance the cancer-killing effect of TRAIL, a natural anticancer agent, on HeLa cancer cells.
  • HELa cells are usually resistant to TRAIL alone, but when combined with EEP or its components like apigenin and CAPE, they undergo much higher levels of apoptosis or cell death.
  • This research demonstrates for the first time that propolis extract boosts TRAIL's ability to induce death in cancer cells, highlighting its potential role in cancer prevention and therapy.

Our #GreenChemistry assessment is in! Using the Path2Green method, our HPE process scored a stellar 0.504, significantly outperforming LPE at 0.228. HPE excels in scalability, waste management, and resource optimization, making it the greener choice for a sustainable future! #Sustainability

The HPE method proved significantly more efficient, yielding a higher overall amount of valuable compounds. It also showed greater selectivity, meaning we could target specific compounds more effectively.

Our research isn't just about what we extract, but how we extract it. We compared our HPE method to a traditional low-pressure extraction (LPE) and found some exciting results!
