@Freudian__Slap ANCOVA was one of the procedures that Simmons et al. (2011) used to purposely generate spurious statistical significance in their landmark article. They didn't use the phrase "p-hacking," but that's what they're doing in that article. https://t.co/z0V3XtNIYc

I'll say it again: With the lessons from decades of research from pre-2010 psychology, they will find an association. And then they will call us anti-science for not believing them. doi.org/10.1177/0956...

@carlislerainey The argument on pre-reg is ridiculous and the authors need to go back and read the history of fields like social psychology pre-2011 (here’s a good starting point: https://t.co/YQfkjuTESo). Amazing that not a single seminal psych replication crisis paper is cited. https://t.co/ESBYEYeZnO

@GadSaad Well, maybe they will play "When I'm 64". Simmons et al. (2011) proved that listening to that song makes you physically younger by an average of 1.4 years (p=0.04)! https://t.co/fzKOTAZfUi Although later in the article they do admit some caveats with that particular result...

@alexmvdk @ChrisFiloG @torwager Thanks! Just note that we're reusing the title of Simmons et al. 2011 https://t.co/LH1cnKjDhT I wasn't sure if it's good idea or not.. Tor's first reaction to that was not that positive.. but I kept it anyway. :) Maybe it might be changed after the review-revision process.
