What people are saying

The overall tone reveals strong interest in the research, with comments highlighting the superior effects of block periodization on endurance and performance indices, such as mentions of 'performance benefits' and 'training structure.' The users' references to previous evidence and their questions about mechanisms show moderate engagement, while phrases like 'useful details' and 'effects in resistance' indicate recognition of the study's potential to impact training paradigms.

AgreementModerate agreement

Most discussions express support or acknowledgment of the study's findings about block periodization's effectiveness.

InterestHigh interest

Users show high interest, referencing specific aspects of the study like performance benefits and training structure.

EngagementModerate engagement

Participants engage by referencing their own knowledge, asking questions, and summarizing key points, indicating moderate involvement.

ImpactModerate impact

The discussions suggest some influence on training perspectives, emphasizing the practical implications of using block periodization for performance improvements.

Abstract in brief

  • This study compared the effects of two different training methods—block periodization (BP) and traditional (TRAD)—on well-trained cyclists over 12 weeks.
  • Results showed that cyclists using BP experienced greater improvements in VO2max, power output, hemoglobin mass, and overall endurance performance compared to those using TRAD.
  • Overall, the findings suggest that block periodization may be more effective than traditional training for enhancing endurance and performance in trained cyclists.

@CardiacCTson @StephenSeiler I agree. General lack of training adaptations when merging the two groups is proof of that (with the exc. of TT perf.). Some evidence for periodization exists in longer studies, eg. https://t.co/poNebhmH72. But, deliberate practice over time is of course the most important factor

@feelthebyrn1 I haven't read the whole way through his paper, but on first glance, it seems a bit like block periodization—just with massive blocks! https://t.co/l040MpmSut

El estudio sugiere que el entrenamiento de periodización en bloque en resistencia tiene efectos superiores en varios índices de resistencia y rendimiento en comparación con el entrenamiento tradicional. @umh1617 https://t.co/X1Z1aOljT3
