The discussions reflect a balanced view, with some posters emphasizing the potential benefits of vitamin D and calcium, especially noting their use in older populations at high risk of fractures. Others highlight lingering doubts, especially about mortality reduction, demonstrating a nuanced engagement with the topic. Words like 'reduction of risk' and phrases such as 'doubt about fractures' indicate a cautious but interested tone, shaping a moderate but meaningful overall perception of the research’s importance.

Abstract in brief
This review analyzed 53 studies involving nearly 92,000 older adults to determine if vitamin D, alone or with calcium, helps prevent fractures, especially hip fractures, in postmenopausal women and older men.
The majority of research focused on vitamin D forms like 25-hydroxy vitamin D, often with calcium, and mainly involved community-dwelling elderly or institutionalized residents, including some very elderly participants aged 80 and above.
Results suggest that vitamin D, with or without calcium, provides some benefit in reducing fractures, but the effectiveness varies depending on the population, type of vitamin D, and whether calcium is included, indicating that it may help prevent fractures in certain groups of older adults.]

E por esse aqui, parece que suplementar vit D + cálcio reduz um pouco o risco de fratura em idosos (boa evidência, média de 80 anos das pessoas estudadas). E faz mais diferença em idosos com alto risco de fratura.
