This text reviews current scientific evidence on how cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychoactive compound from cannabis, might help treat epilepsy and other neuropsychiatric disorders, highlighting its pharmacology, mechanisms of action, and research status.
While cannabis and THC have been used historically to treat certain conditions, THC can cause psychoactive effects that limit its use, whereas CBD shows promise as an anticonvulsant with neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory properties, but more rigorous human studies are needed.
