Abstract in brief
The systematic review analyzed 63 studies and found that reducing alcohol consumption, including complete abstinence, can lead to numerous health benefits such as fewer injuries, better heart and liver health, lower blood pressure, and improved mental health.
Benefits of alcohol reduction also include decreased hospital stays, fewer withdrawal symptoms, less psychiatric issues, and improved social and psychological functioning. Additionally, reducing alcohol intake can lead to significant socioeconomic savings by lowering healthcare costs and improving productivity.
The review emphasizes the importance of early screening for problematic drinking, especially in healthcare settings, and suggests that brief interventions can be highly effective, especially for vulnerable groups like those with hypertension, hepatitis C, psychiatric conditions, or among youth.

@StevenCambian I saw a bit of this and I just wanted to throw this out there, harm reduction also offers significant benefits if you don't want to stay completely off alcohol for life. There will also be a lot of decriminalization of other fun substances soon.
