Abstract in brief
- The study found that androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is quite common, affecting about 67.1% of men and 23.9% of women visiting the clinic, with its prevalence increasing with age in both genders.
- There was no significant difference in the presence of systemic diseases between patients with and without AGA, except for hypertension, which was more frequent in men aged 50-59 with AGA.
- While the study aimed to explore the relationship between BMI, severity of AGA, and signs of hyperandrogenemia, one limitation was that differentiating early AGA from other hair loss causes like telogen effluvium based solely on clinical features was challenging.
