The group shows moderate interest by referencing related research, such as a paper highlighting rapid fat loss without reduction in RMR, and discusses the broader context of weight loss methods, including fasting and exercise. The tone blends supportive acknowledgment with critical perspectives, illustrating nuanced engagement with the research findings.

Abstract in brief
This study found that obese patients undergoing a very low-calorie ketogenic (VLCK) diet experienced significant weight and fat mass loss without a corresponding decrease in resting metabolic rate (RMR), suggesting no metabolic adaptation due to preservation of lean mass.
Despite large weight loss, RMR fluctuated but did not significantly decrease over the course of the diet, and this stability was not linked to increased sympathetic activity or thyroid hormones, but was primarily predicted by free fat mass (FFM) levels adjusted by ketone bodies.
The findings imply that VLCK diets can effectively induce rapid weight loss without causing the typical metabolic slowdown, mainly because lean tissue is preserved, which could help prevent quick weight regain after dieting.]
The poor results from the Biggest Loser are untypicial & reflect the approach ie low fat diet and unsustainably large amount of exercise. @jonkay @McMasterU They gave up already? Mentally weak.
Lots of people do regular 7-10 day fasts for health and weight loss.

@sashalizaveta @4fitnessrules Can’t really look at that study if we are talking about healthy weight loss. Here is another interesting paper that did show small losses in lean mass and big losses in fat mass rapidly without effecting RMR. https://t.co/ECjuRvgNkk #ReadByQxMD

This video explains reverse dieting, a strategy to gradually increase calorie intake to boost metabolism after calorie-restrictive diets or intense training, supporting muscle building without gaining fat.
