The conversations could influence athletes' supplement choices and training strategies, hinting at practical significance, though they mainly reflect evolving viewpoints.
Abstract in brief
The study investigated whether eating antioxidant-rich foods affects how elite athletes adapt to altitude training and found that increased intake did not hinder improvements in oxygen uptake or hemoglobin mass.
While total antioxidant food intake increased significantly, both the antioxidant and control groups showed similar gains in key performance measures, though the antioxidant group experienced a greater increase in hemoglobin concentration and a decrease in blood volume.
The results suggest that consuming high amounts of antioxidants from foods is safe and does not negatively impact the body's ability to adapt to altitude training in elite endurance athletes.]

Don't take anti-oxidants or anti-inflammatories less than 2 hours before, or less than 2 hours after, exercise (that means things like Ibuprofen or Coenzyme Q10, among many other common supplements / medications.)

Altitude training in swimmers improves physiology, but not performance? Was more time necessary to see the improvement in performance? Was it the result of the training program, as opposed to the altitude stimulus? Other explanations? https://t.co/33KJiFbK9A
It has long since been shown that high dose antioxidant supplements have a detritus impact on cellular adaptations to resistance training and cardio, this study goes into how whole food may impact differently #NUTR401 @ColleenMcmilin https://t.co/j73YIffbVZ
