Abstract in brief
The document is a guideline developed by major health organizations like the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association to help manage blood cholesterol levels effectively.

Yes, they call this advanced lipid testing to deny:
Use the EU and US guidelines, EU recommends everyone get at least one Lp(a) and US for certain high risk group as risk endhancer: https://t.co/qRSvEsuIxq

In this type of divergence w/apoB, a f/u lipid panel is worth it to r/o error in some of the labs? If LDL-C is really 197 and not responsive to lifestyle/wt loss/diet, I would follow guidelines and treat w/statin/eze. Decrease lifetime risk is goal https://t.co/sKjTWhqIOk https://t.co/6zsZwENijX https://t.co/2H2XkEt7rV

There are a lot of ridiculous acronym combinations in medicine, but I think the 2018 AHA/ACC/AACVPR/AAPA/ABC/ACPM/ADA/AGS/APhA/ASPC/NLA/PCNA Guideline on the Management of Blood Cholesterol really takes the cake. https://t.co/vdCFGPCryG

Time for the answers: The answer is TG >2 mmol/L. According to ACC/AHA Lp(a) should be > 50 mg/dL, not >30 mg/dL, apoB >130 and ABI <0.9. Answers in cartoon. The epi data does suggest risk starts at >30, but this is not what the question asked. https://t.co/sKjTWhHLQk https://t.co/Hbk0iKdZKw https://t.co/cEieICTSVI

The lack of outcomes data causes some doctors to stop thinking about causes of diseases. Evidence base is sine-qua-non, but so is good judgment. If US current guidelines were followed, which are too conservative IMO, an Lp(a) should have been ordered. https://t.co/sKjTWhHLQk https://t.co/SZLEJOUkBI
