Abstract in brief

Millions of children in the U.S. suffer from acute gastroenteritis yearly, and while probiotics are frequently used for treatment, there's limited evidence supporting their efficacy.
A randomized trial was conducted with 971 children aged 3 months to 4 years, where half received the probiotic Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG and the other half a placebo for 5 days, with follow-ups occurring at various intervals.
