Abstract in brief

  • This study examined the long-term (5-year) effectiveness of finasteride 1 mg in treating male androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in Korean men, analyzing how hair growth improvements varied across different types of hair loss based on the BASIC and Specific (BASP) classification system.
  • Results showed that most patients experienced improvements, especially in the vertex (V) and frontal (F) areas, with the vertex type showing the quickest and most consistent progress. However, some degree of alopecia progression was observed after initial improvement, particularly in V and F types.
  • Overall, finasteride 1 mg demonstrated sustainable benefits for at least 5 years, but the timing of when improvements and signs of stabilization appeared differed depending on the specific pattern of hair loss.]

https://t.co/DfpxWO2ezK

Evaluation of long‐term efficacy of finasteride in Korean men with androgenetic alopecia using the basic and specific classification
