EngagementModerate engagement
Participants are engaging by sharing resources, asking questions, and discussing technical details like vertices and image fields, showing moderate depth.
ImpactModerate impact
While some comments question methodological aspects, many recognize the potential impact on understanding knee biomechanics, suggesting a moderate perceived influence.
Abstract in brief
The study developed a framework to systematically vary knee joint shapes using statistical shape modeling and used these variations in computational models to examine their impact on knee movement and contact forces during walking.
By analyzing 14 knees, the researchers created 37 different knee models representing variations within three standard deviations of typical shape differences and simulated their biomechanics.
Results showed that changes in joint shape could lead to significant differences in knee orientation, translation, contact forces, and cartilage pressure, offering insights into injury risk and how morphology influences joint function.
