AI synopsis

What people are saying

Many discussions highlight the superiority of short-interval training as compared to long intervals, using examples like the emphasis on peak aerobic power output improvements. Some comments, such as 'A must-read paper!' and 'superior adaptations,' convey an enthusiastic tone that reflects the overall excitement and perceived importance of the findings in changing training protocols for elite cyclists.

AgreementModerate agreement

The majority of discussions express support for the findings of the publication, acknowledging the advantages of short-interval training.

InterestHigh interest

Participants show significant curiosity, as many posts refer to the study and its implications for training practices.

EngagementModerate engagement

While some individuals reference specific methodologies, many posts provide links to studies and engage in detailed comparisons.

ImpactHigh impact

There is a strong belief that the article will influence training approaches for elite cyclists significantly.

Abstract in brief

  • The study compared the effects of short interval (SI) training versus long interval (LI) training in elite cyclists over three weeks with nine total sessions.
  • SI training resulted in significantly greater improvements in peak aerobic power output and power output at a specific lactate threshold compared to LI training.
  • Overall, the findings suggest that SI training is more effective in enhancing performance in elite cyclists than LI training.

@hosteltranquilo @tednaiman Intervals can be scaled to initial fitness and based on relative effort. Different from 5BX protocol, but short-term sprint interval training (~20 min sessions of repeated 30-s efforts; 9x over 3 wk) can increase VO2max in elite cyclists https://t.co/lfsfgvzZuo

ショートインターバル(30s on/15s off x 30 3set)とロングインターバル(5min on/2.5min off x 4)の比較。 ショートインーバルでOBLA(血中乳酸が4mM。乳酸の蓄積が急増する=無酸素域に)でのパワーや20分パワーが高かったみたい。インターバルのやり方も重要みたい。https://t.co/kqhrqo8WrD

Thought of the day: sprint interval training with relatively longer work durations (30”) (vs shorter: 15”) and a work:recovery ratio of 2:1 (vs 1:1) might result in superior training adaptations, albeit in elite cyclists. More time spent above 90% VO2max? https://t.co/uPFwFG2Rzi
