Abstract in brief
The study compared the effects of different weightlifting training methods—catching (CATCH), pulling without catching (PULL), and exercise with force and velocity-specific overload (OL)—on strength, sprint speed, and agility over 10 weeks.
Results showed that the OL group, which used tailored force and velocity overloads, experienced the greatest improvements in strength, sprint performance, and change of direction, outperforming the CATCH and PULL groups.
The findings suggest that using force and velocity-specific overload stimuli during weightlifting derivatives can lead to better athletic performance gains than traditional catching or pulling techniques.

@coachrebbrock @TommyMoffitt I totally agree. However @DrTSuchomel found the same force absorption amounts with derivatives: https://t.co/jXV2E1fojc
That is as long as you don't drop the bar after extension. The same would go for trap bar jumps meaning force absorption is happening during the landing.
@thereallsu777 @TommyMoffitt Yeah, that was this one from @DrTSuchomel https://t.co/jXV2E1fojc
And I would just say, if you can’t teach the lifts properly, derivatives are the way to go. However, I still believe the full lift is important.
