Abstract in brief
Approximately 15.6% of COVID-19 patients are asymptomatic, meaning they show no symptoms but are still infected.
Nearly half (about 48.9%) of initially asymptomatic patients later develop symptoms, indicating many are presymptomatic at detection.
Children tend to have a higher rate of asymptomatic infection (around 27.7%) compared to adults, and even asymptomatic individuals may show abnormal CT or laboratory results useful for detection.]

@HeckofaLiberal @IDSAInfo @HIVMA This is very old & since then scientists have identified COVID-19 as a disease of the vascular system that makes it's initial infection in the lungs. Here is updated, as of yesterday...but known for awhile info on asymptomatic cases

@gijanetweets @IDSAInfo @T_Inglesby @HIVMA This excellent podcast addresses asymptomatic transmission & unfelt damage to the body in @ 30% of asymptomatic cases. Dr. does a daily 20 to 30 minute uodate. CDC is trying to reduce the quarantine time. https://t.co/IlrZKWbNMD
@joytripletmom @Lanelaine18 @DavidKarlhungus @cnnbrk A rapid test is being developed. I take the approach that everyone is infected & act accordingly. Since you have a family I highly recommend this Dr's daily brief Youtube updates.
@Lanelaine18 @reagan_locke @cnnbrk Here's some backup for you. Most of these people are bots. I check first, but sometimes answer do that others will not be misinformed. Daily Youtube updates by Dr. John Campbell. Yesterday's was on this exact topic. Another good one is weekly CIDRAP
@reagan_locke @Lanelaine18 @cnnbrk And yet CT scans of asymptomatic people show virus caused damage in @ 30% of them. Watch short podcast for general public made just yesterday on this very topic, long known to virologists.

Been watching Dr John Campbell's YouTube channel all the way through this thing. Here he looks at a study showing asymptomatic & presymptomatic people are main spreaders. Without test, track & isolate it looks like

@aeromitch @TheBradOwen You’re confusing asymptomatic with pre-symptomatic. Most asymptomatic people are merely pre-symptomatic There are plenty of people that are “healthy” (no pre-existing conditions) that get sick and die or have other lingering effects. https://t.co/VNn7KizBnv

& this details how effective masks are at mitigating droplet transmission: https://t.co/Vic35fZosc

Moim zdaniem jeden ze szkodliwiejszych mitów to owe mityczne 80% chorych bezobjawowych z COVID-19. Meta-analiza jednak pokazuje, że ten odsetek to raczej 15,6% przy 95% CI (10,1%-23%) https://t.co/YMTZT91vZE

MedVirology, Jingjing He et al [China]: Proportion of asymptomatic COVID-19: a systematic review https://t.co/KEE8Ic1hm3 About 15.6% of confirmed cases are asymptomatic when tested. About half will develop symptoms later. Children likely to have a higher incidence.
This meta-analysis finds that in pooled analysis asymptomatic infection of #Covid_19 is 15.6% for all ages grouped, but is 27.7% in children. These data could have important ramifications for #SchoolReopening in the fall
https://t.co/CyNSknFmXx
Today's back to school special:
"The pooled proportion of asymptomatic infection among 1,152 COVID-19 children from 11 studies is 27.7% ..., which is much higher than patients from all aged groups."
