Abstract in brief
- This research introduces a highly flexible, stretchable composite material made of silicone, water, or hydrogels that can effectively monitor vital signs like heart and respiratory patterns through clothing or furry skin without direct skin contact.
- When combined with traditional acoustic transducers, this new system provides real-time, high-performance monitoring that outperforms conventional metal stethoscopes and is less affected by motion artifacts, making it suitable for wearable use.
- The study is notable for being the first to demonstrate a stretchable, non-invasive sensor that works with furry animals, eliminating the need for shaving, and it shows potential for monitoring both heart and breathing in humans and animals alike.]
