Abstract in brief

  • This study analyzed the use and accessibility of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in various locations during out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCAs) in Southern Denmark, focusing on usage patterns, crossing of location types, and survival rates within 30 days.
  • Findings showed that AEDs were most frequently used in public places, nursing homes, health clinics, and sports facilities, while usage was lower in companies, residential areas, and institutions, with public and residential AEDs covering around 575m and 270m respectively.
  • The study also indicated that AEDs in residential and public areas had wider coverage than previously thought, and 30-day survival rates varied by location, with the highest survival in mixed group settings (67%) and lower in public and residential groups.
