Abstract in brief
- The study evaluated a new EEG-based device called the Cognalyzer, which aims to detect brain changes caused by cannabis use, and found it to have high accuracy (around 85-83%) in identifying recent cannabis inhalation.
- The results showed that the device's sensitivity (ability to correctly identify users) was approximately 87-89%, and specificity (ability to correctly identify non-users) was around 79-83%, with similar results across two versions of the algorithm used.
- Combining the Cognalyzer with traditional oral fluid THC tests improved accuracy by reducing false positives by up to 49%, suggesting that this EEG-based test could be a more reliable tool for detecting cannabis effects compared to current methods.]
