What people are saying
Several discussions highlight interest in the article's exploration of AI's effect on endoscopy, using phrases like 'impressive to watch' and 'interesting work,' which showcase curiosity and engagement. The focus on eye gaze, reaction times, and terminology such as 'AI-human interaction' suggests that the community is both critically evaluating and interested in the practical implications of the findings.
Most discussions reflect a consensus that AI's role in endoscopy is noteworthy, with some questioning its real benefits, suggesting moderate agreement about its current impact.
Posts express curiosity about AI's influence, with words like 'impressive,' 'interesting,' and questions about how AI changes the practice, indicating high interest.
Many contributions delve into specific aspects such as reaction times, eye gaze, misinterpretation, and training, showing deep engagement with the research findings.
While some mention the potential for changes in practice and training, there's a sense that the full impact is still uncertain, leading to a moderate impact perception.
Abstract in brief
- Computer-aided polyp detection (CADe) systems can identify polyps faster than human examiners, with a median detection time of 116 seconds versus 297 seconds without CADe.
- Despite faster detection, CADe did not significantly improve the reaction times of human endoscopists, who showed similar response times when using or not using the system.
- The use of CADe was associated with increased misinterpretation of normal mucosa and less eye movement across the mucosa, which could lead to longer examination times and potential skill degradation among practitioners.]
