  • The European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) guidelines recommend using endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) as the best initial tool to assess subepithelial lesions (SELs), but it cannot distinguish all lesion types; tissue diagnosis with biopsy techniques is advised especially for certain small or high-risk lesions.
  • For asymptomatic or benign-appearing SELs, the guidelines generally suggest avoiding unnecessary surveillance unless the lesions are larger or have uncertain diagnosis, with specific intervals recommended for follow-up of certain sizes.
  • In cases like gastric neuroendocrine tumors that grow beyond 10mm, endoscopic resection is advised, with the technique chosen based on tumor size, position, and depth of invasion, to effectively remove the lesion.]
