What people are saying
The analysis reflects a moderate agreement with the study's conclusion that plastic stents do not significantly prevent recurrence, exemplified by discussions referencing the 3- to 12-month results and noting no statistical significance. The tone is clinical and factual, with some posts mentioning related procedures like endoscopic intervention, but overall engagement remains moderate without passionate debate, highlighting a neutral perception of the study's immediate impact.
Most discussions acknowledge the study's findings that plastic stents do not significantly reduce recurrence, showing moderate support.
Participants show moderate curiosity about the research, often referencing the specific results and clinical implications.
The level of interaction is neutral, with some sharing of summaries or mentioning related procedures without deep analysis.
The discussions are largely informational and do not suggest strong immediate changes to clinical practice, indicating limited perceived impact.
Abstract in brief
- This study investigated whether placing plastic stents after removing large-caliber metal stents (LCMS) reduces the recurrence of pancreatic fluid collections (PFC) in patients with disconnected pancreatic duct (DPD) who had undergone drainage for walled-off necrosis (WON).
- The results showed that there was no significant difference in the rate of PFC recurrence at 3, 6, and 12 months between patients who received plastic stents and those who did not, indicating that plastic stents do not effectively prevent recurrent fluid collections in this context.
- The study concluded that deploying plastic stents after LCMS removal in patients with DPD does not decrease the likelihood of recurrent PFC, suggesting that other strategies might be needed to prevent recurrence.]

Recent RCT on DPS after LAMS removal for PFC in patient with disconnected duct syndrome. No difference after 3 months. But at 6 and 12 months lower recurrence in DPS group 13.5% vs. 19.2% and 13.5% vs. 25%. Both not statistically significant https://t.co/7m1hDWRNgf
