The discussions collectively underscore the significance of the article's insights, with posters citing specific findings like the risk associated with high quadriceps symmetry at 6 months and emphasizing the need for cautious return-to-activity timing. Words like 'predict' and 'risk' highlight concern and potential changes in injury prevention strategies, reflecting both engagement and perceived impact.
AgreementModerate agreement
Many discussions recognize the importance of the research, with some emphasizing its findings on reinjury risks and return-to-activity timing, reflecting general support.
InterestModerate interest
Posters show moderate interest, often highlighting specific aspects like the use of quadriceps symmetry or return timelines, indicating engagement but not overwhelming enthusiasm.
EngagementHigh engagement
Numerous posts reference details and implications, such as the risk of early return and functional assessment tools, demonstrating deep engagement and critical thought.
ImpactModerate impact
There is consensus that the study's findings could influence clinical practices in ACL rehabilitation and return protocols, suggesting moderate impact.
Abstract in brief
It looked at factors like patient-reported outcomes, strength, and hopping tests, and tracked injuries and return to activity over time.
Results showed that women more often injured the opposite (contralateral) ACL, while men more frequently re-injured the same (ipsilateral) ACL.
Better knee extension symmetry at 6 months was linked to a higher risk of reinjury, and stronger quadriceps symmetry increased reinjury risk at 8 months.
Delaying return to activity also appeared to lower injury risk.
- Overall, the findings suggest that specific functional assessments at 6 months can help predict the likelihood of ACL reinjury, which could improve how we manage and time athletes' return to activity.]

Greater levels of quad symmetry at 6 months following ACLR increased the risk of reinjury in those who returned to activity (RTA) <8 months. Every month that RTA was delayed >8mo reduced the probability of reinjury by 28%

@mboyle1959 Webster et al found subj reports more likely to predict RTS than other tests (cool if physically pass but are they mentally ready). No reinjury analysis.
Bodkin et al show at 8 mo, average hop LSI was 90%, quad LSI only 70%.
