Abstract in brief
- This study tested an eight-week online CBT program aimed at increasing assertiveness and reducing anxiety in 210 participants, comparing therapist-guided, unguided self-help, and waitlist groups.
- Results showed that both treatment groups significantly improved in adaptive and aggressive assertiveness immediately after treatment and at one-year follow-up, with effect sizes similar to traditional therapy, and some improvement in social anxiety and depression was also observed.
- However, no significant effects were found for generalized anxiety, although a medium effect on depression was noted one year later within the treatment groups.
