Abstract in brief
- This study analyzed the surgical outcomes for full-thickness macular holes in patients with macular telangiectasia type 2 across multiple international centers, including different surgical techniques such as ILM peeling, ILM flaps, and autologous retinal transplants.
- Results showed that ILM flap surgeries and autologous retinal transplants had higher closure rates (90% and 100% respectively) compared to ILM peeling alone (47%), and most patients experienced significant visual acuity improvements postoperatively.
- Overall, surgical intervention led to macular hole closure and improved vision in the majority of cases, suggesting that surgical repair is effective for treating MTMH in patients with MacTel2.]
