Abstract in brief
Vaccines create long-lasting immune cells, both plasma cells and memory B cells (Bmems), which can further evolve to improve their effectiveness when exposed again to the same antigen.
In mouse studies, it was found that memory B cells in draining lymph nodes — near the initial vaccination site — are more effective in generating stronger immune responses and are more likely to reintegrate into germinal centers compared to those in non-draining nodes.
In humans, receiving a boost of the BNT162b2 vaccine in the same arm as the first shot led to quicker antibody production and better immune cell response, highlighting the significance of specialized macrophages in controlling memory B cell activity.
