研究的背景 这一现象首次由社会心理学家 戴维·邓宁(David Dunning) 和 贾斯汀·克鲁格(Justin Kruger)在 1999 年发表的研究论文《无能且无觉:对自身无能的认识困难如何导致高估自我能力》(Unskilled and Unaware of It: How Difficulties in Recognizing One’s Own Incompetence Lead to Inflated Self-Assessments)中提出。 除了认知局限性外,邓宁-克鲁格效应的另一个可能原因是缺乏洞察力或元认知能力。元认知指的是能够诚实且客观地反思自己技能或表现的能力。

Abstract Synopsis

  • Many people have an inflated view of their skills in areas like humor, grammar, and logic.
  • This overestimation occurs because those who are less skilled often lack the awareness (metacognition) to correctly evaluate their own abilities.
  • Studies showed that participants scoring in the bottom quartile significantly overestimated their performance, believing they scored much higher, but improving their skills helped them better understand their limitations.
