Abstract in brief

  • Anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) are synthetic versions of testosterone that can enhance strength and increase lean body mass, though they do not seem to improve endurance or reduce fat mass.
  • Short-term use may cause side effects like increased sexual desire, acne, body hair growth, and aggressive behavior, along with hormonal disruptions that can last months after stopping.
  • While some cardiovascular risks like high blood pressure and lowering good cholesterol are noted, studies show mixed results on their impact on heart structure and liver health in athletes.

There’s so many reasons not to do them but to say it was the SOLE reason for HR spike is a stretch.

Athletes who use androgenic-anabolic steroid may see an increase in strength performance and shortened recovery time, however, there are many adverse effects of use. Since these drugs are derived from testosterone, reproductive issues are common. https://t.co/Z53d3O4Rmb
