Progesterone: the forgotten hormone in men? https://t.co/NbLlwiyXAM This paper is very revealing. Suggests progesterone isn’t physiologically relevant except at supraphysiological levels, while having both estrogenic and anti-estrogenic activity dependent on receptor preference.

Abstract in brief
- Progesterone has important roles in men, affecting reproductive functions like sperm development and testosterone production, as well as influencing the central nervous system, immune system, and other organs, yet it remains relatively understudied in male physiology.
- Despite similar serum progesterone levels in men and women outside of specific menstrual phases, research shows no significant age-related changes in men's progesterone levels, and its effects are often mediated through non-genomic mechanisms, adding complexity to its study and potential treatments.
- Detecting progesterone receptor isoforms could be valuable for diagnosing prostate issues like benign prostatic hypertrophy and cancer, but the diverse and variable pharmacological effects of progesterone in men highlight the need for more precise therapeutic approaches.]

My reply won’t be as relevant as others, as I’ve still got ovaries, but I will say, I kept taking progesterone whilst on T (for birth control reasons) and IMO it didn’t interfere in masculinising. Worth acknowledging that cis men need progesterone too, to be healthy - doi: 10.1080/13685530400004199

It should be possible to get the body to make more progesterone regardless of gender status. It's often assumed only cis women make it, but there are aspects here in cis males (that impact fertility) as well. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15669543/

If you only need progesterone if you have a Uterus then why progesterone critical to health in males? https://t.co/eWBXtLhGss Methinks the NHS is stuck in a 1950's timewarp It's like ignoring that males need Oestrogen to heal everything from sinews to synapes or else they die
