Abstract Synopsis

  • Tremor affects approximately 25 to 60 percent of multiple sclerosis (MS) patients and can be highly disabling and embarrassing, but current treatment options are limited.
  • Some medications like high-dose isoniazid, carbamazepine, propranolol, and gluthetimide offer limited relief, while cannabinoids seem ineffective; surgical options like thalamotomy or stimulation show promise but lack long-term data.
  • Non-drug strategies such as physiotherapy, orthoses, and limb cooling can help improve function, but overall, managing MS-related tremor remains a significant challenge that needs more research.
