Abstract in brief
The study shows that fruit flies can use visual information to plan an escape jump directly away from a looming threat, with preparatory postural adjustments starting about 200 ms before takeoff.
These preflight movements are adaptable and depend on the fly's initial posture, indicating that the escape response involves complex motor planning rather than simple reflexes.
The findings suggest that Drosophila employs a sophisticated, rapid visual-based motor planning system for escape behavior, challenging the idea that such responses are purely reflexive.
Fruit flies can visually plan escape jumps directly away from threats. This study shows that even wingless flies bias their takeoff direction using leg movement alone, indicating complex motor planning beyond simple…

Here's another: the debut novel by Caleb Azumah Nelson. I like this description from the publisher: “Open Water is...an exploration of intimacy & vulnerability between 2 young artists learning to be soft with each other in a world that hardens against Black people.”

I won't say anything in detail about this, but over the past few years I've worked as an Early ECEAP/Early Head Start/ECEAP teacher, and yes. And you can't tell which kids are unhoused by looking.
It's SHAMEFUL that we have babies and toddlers sleeping in cars, shelters, or couch surfing.
Beat Metroid Zero Mission after recommendations from friends. It was definitely easy compared to a lot of Metroid games, but I dug the upgraded Kraid and Mother Brain fights. Ridley was TOO easy, but I also didn’t know about the stuff after Mother Brain. Mecha Ridley is a great last threat.

I'm sad if it took until this for folks to leave X... but, come on. If you're still active on X what the hell is wrong with you?
Skimming through SamsungTV, I found a whole channel of the Shat's "UnXplained" History Channel show. If you want to… practice… your late-stage… Shatner-speak,… this is where to get… a full hour of it! #allstartrek
Hehe, why thank you for the kind words benefactor! We should perhaps meet up for a bit of fun soon. I'd be quite interested to see how a night together would go!
Ugh! Batch recording is so exhausting sometimes. But it’s done!!
Do I…
1. Clean my office so I can edit everything comfortably tomorrow
2. Push through as much editing as I can
3. Relax and play games, continue cleaning and working tomorrow
