It's an illusion to think that we are not part of the natural world. Just think that in the beginning there was no oxygen in the atmosphere. That corrosive gas was created by the evolution of photosynthesis totally changing the biosphere. We are another disruptor. I agree we should give it thought.

Abstract Synopsis

  • Photosynthesis began early in Earth's history, initially as a type that did not produce oxygen, but the development of oxygenic photosynthesis around 2.4 billion years ago dramatically transformed life and Earth's atmosphere.
  • This revolution led to new biosynthetic pathways, modifications in electron carriers and pigments, and different methods of fixing carbon, shaping modern photosynthesis.
  • The evolutionary journey of photosynthetic organisms is complex, involving lateral gene transfer and endosymbiotic events, with ongoing research combining genetic, biochemical, and physiological data to better understand their origins.]
