Abstract Synopsis
- The study compares three different scales used to measure Protective Behavioral Strategies (PBS), which are specific behaviors people use to reduce the negative effects of alcohol consumption.
- Results showed that only the PBSS had a somewhat good fit for its theorized structure and was significantly linked to fewer alcohol-related problems, while the other two scales did not fit well and showed no significant connection to alcohol issues.
- The findings highlight challenges in consistently assessing PBS across different measures, emphasizing the need to consider variations like instructions, response scales, and timing when evaluating these strategies.
