When alcohol is consumed, it undergoes first pass metabolism in the liver. The body prioritizes alcohol metabolism over other substances, as it cannot be stored and must be eliminated. Cannabis metabolism is more complex, particularly when considering its main components.
What causes these problems? Two main factors: 1️⃣ Fructose & alcohol metabolism in the liver → spikes uric acid production. 2️⃣ Insulin resistance → blocks kidneys from excreting uric acid properly.
This one is true for common ink caps but maybe not shaggy ink caps, i'm not sure. But they have a myotoxin called which inhibits an enzyme that does alcohol metabolism. This leads to a buildup of ethanal (partially oxidized ethanol). Causing an Alcohol Flush reaction.
