Abstract Synopsis
- Unconscious survivors of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest face a high risk of death or poor neurological outcomes, and therapeutic hypothermia is recommended but its effectiveness at different target temperatures is unclear.
- In a trial involving 950 patients, researchers compared outcomes of target temperatures at 33°C and 36°C, focusing on all-cause mortality and neurological function at 180 days.
- The results showed no significant difference in mortality or neurological outcomes between the two temperature groups, suggesting that targeting either temperature may have similar effects on patient survival and function after cardiac arrest.
