The overall discussions strongly support the idea that valuing consciousness over material objects is essential, using phrases like 'we must value consciousness' and referencing societal issues like materialism and the 6th extinction. The tone is reflective and philosophical, with examples such as aliens warning about materialism and quantum physics suggesting consciousness as fundamental, which highlight a deep engagement with the publication's themes.
AgreementModerate agreement
The majority of discussions emphasize the importance of valuing consciousness over material objects, aligning with the publication's core argument.
InterestHigh interest
Posts show high curiosity and engagement with the philosophical implications, referencing concepts like qualia, the nature of consciousness, and societal impacts.
EngagementHigh engagement
Many posts delve into deep reflections, compare historical shifts, and incorporate examples like alien perspectives and quantum physics, indicating active and thoughtful engagement.
ImpactModerate impact
While the conversations are thought-provoking, they seem more philosophical and theoretical, with less direct influence on practical change or societal action.
Abstract in brief
Recent research suggests that perception is more about fitness and survival rather than accurately reflecting true physical properties of objects, which challenges traditional models assuming we perceive reality exactly as it is.
Findings from quantum physics, especially certain interpretations, imply that physical properties may not have definite values unless observed, meaning that reality might be fundamentally tied to the observer, not independent of it.
The authors propose a new model of consciousness called a "conscious agent" where perceptions and physical properties emerge from interactions among these agents, leading to a reinterpretation of objects like particles as vibrations of consciousness rather than preexisting truths.]

All the objects of consciousness form the universe. What is beyond both, supporting both, is the supreme state, a state of utter stillness and silence. Whoever goes there, disappears. It is unreachable by words, or mind.
Mark, the fundamental problem we face is materialism. We value the objects of consciousness when we should be valuing consciousness itself. Materialism polarizes the mind's lens on reality creating duality (separation, objectification, exploitation, etc.). Polarity = the end of some ongoing sysytem.
In part 1 of the Essentia Foundations Analytic Idealism Course, we investigate the incoherence of our ordinary intuitions about reality. We discuss whether these intuitions can be true and examine our relationship with…

Is what we see what we get? This video explores whether material objects are truly what they seem or if our perceptions are merely coded representations of a deeper reality, based on recent scientific research.
For it is not questioned that there are distinctions in what is present to the mind, but the question is, whether independently of any such distinctions in the immediate objects of consciousness, we have any immediate power of distinguishing different modes of consciousness.
Both. We were higher order sentients from the beginning, existing in a garden (think of the amazing creatures in Costa Rica, etc.), it was all good. Then we became attached to the objects of consciousness valuing them, gold (for example), as important. This introduced dualism/separation, good&evil.
Yes, materlialism as "the way of life" led us here to this place facing pending 6th extinction as a sword of Damocles, societal polarization, and few jobs. The thoughts of people will wonder according to the wind. The option is that we must value consciousness, not the objects of consciousness. I AM
I've met them. The aliens say they want our minds. They say that the focus on materialism that drives our cultures is misguided and ends in polarity (death, then singularity).
We must value consciousness itself, not the objects of consciousness. It is consciousness itself that is most alien to us.
What of the spacetime housing the stars? We tend to focus on the objects of consciousness while missing consciousness itself, which creates all illusions. This alludes to profound insight; that spacetime is the substance of consciousness.
Yeah. What is it that makes life so toxic, for everyone else, for other species and the planet at large? It's the materialism people. Materialism polarizes the mind's lens on reality creating duality (separation, objectification, polarity). We must value consciousness not the objects of consciousness

"Qualia remains the paradox". They're not asking "What am I?" or "Why do I exist?" Descartes says they don't even notice clearly and distinctly that they exist, and they say Descartes just thinks he thinks. They only notice quales or the objects of consciousness.

We have to understand that this is what they want. They want a feudal system where they are as lords over us. This is the nature of societies built on materialism; of which capitalism is a fruit. We have to value consciousness, not the objects of consciousness.
That's a good point. I appreciate it. I am speaking to a deep historical context in which we as conscious beings turned our attention from valuing consciousness itself to valuing material things - the objects of consciousness. The enchanted world of the distant past to today's technological world.

Specifically, "no thing" as in "objects." There is one being that can be accounted for existing by itself, it is consciousness with no objects to perceive. Consciousness itself exist independent of the objects of consciousness, which in turn, require context for their existence.
Very much so & rooted in the old world mixed in with emerging dominant Rome. Western minds adopted materialism moreso while divorcing the valuing of consciousness itself (meditations, etc) as the way. The paradigm of materialism values the objects of consciousness. Consciousness itself is estimable.
All the objects of consciousness form the universe. What is beyond both, supporting both, is the supreme state, a state of utter stillness and silence. Whoever goes there, disappears. It is unreachable by words, or mind.
The alternative of materialism lies in valuing consciousness, not the objects of consciousness. Consciousness sees it all, it creates everything we experience. We have chosen to value the objects of consciousness but ignore the most profound aspect of being. We are conscious agents in spacetime.
Yes, this is true. Materialism polarizes the mind's lens on reality creating duality (separation, objectification, exploitations, wars, greed, and many forms of social ills). And now we know that we are in the 6th extinction. The alternative is in valuing consciousness not objects of consciousness.

"...This allows us to reinterpret physical properties such as position, momentum, and energy as properties of interacting conscious agents, rather than as preexisting physical truths."

To avoid infinite regress, there can be no homunculus in the audience of the Cartesian theater. Somehow the objects of consciousness, the actors, the props, and the set, are consciousness itself.
