Abstract Synopsis
- This study is the first randomized controlled trial to test the effectiveness of Somatic Experiencing (SE), a body-focused therapy, for treating PTSD, involving 63 participants who either received SE or were placed on a waitlist.
- Participants who underwent 15 weekly SE sessions showed significant reductions in PTSD symptoms and depression compared to the waitlist group, with effects maintained at follow-up.
- The results suggest that SE could be a promising therapy for PTSD, but further research is needed to determine which individuals benefit most from this treatment.]
