Abstract in brief
The study aimed to map the detailed anatomy of the brain's central core, focusing on the relationships between the thalamus, basal ganglia, white matter pathways, and blood vessels, by dissecting 19 brain hemispheres injected with colored silicone.
The insula is the most superficial part of the central core, divided by the central sulcus into front and back sections, and is covered by the extreme capsule, which contains fibers connecting various parts of the brain; underlying structures include the claustrum, external capsule, putamen, globus pallidus, and internal capsule.
Key fiber tracts such as the uncinate fascicle, inferior fronto-occipital fascicle, and claustrocortical fibers run sequentially through the capsules, with the internal capsule located medially to the basal ganglia and being a crucial pathway for neural signals, especially in the more complex anteroinferior region of the central core.]
On August 5, 2022, PANS conducted another amazing session of ONA.
Dr. Eduardo, a renowned neurosurgeon from University of São Paulo & Albert Einstein Hospital, was the speaker for the session & talked about Microsurgical Anatomy of the Central Core of the Brain.
