Abstract Synopsis
- This meta-analysis examined the impact of oral taurine supplementation on resting blood pressure (both systolic and diastolic) in humans, based on seven studies with 103 participants, and found that taurine significantly lowers blood pressure by about 3mmHg without causing adverse side effects.
- The evidence suggests that taurine deficiency may be linked to hypertension and that taking taurine supplements could be a useful therapy to reduce high blood pressure, though more research is needed to determine the best doses and duration.
- Overall, the findings indicate that taurine could be a safe and effective way to help manage blood pressure, but further studies are necessary to better understand its effects and optimize its use.]
