Abstract Synopsis
- A study conducted at Vancouver's supervised injection facility, Insite, between July 2016 and June 2017, evaluated the effectiveness of drug checking tests for fentanyl, a powerful opioid contaminant.
- Out of 1,411 drug checks performed, about 79.8% were positive for fentanyl, leading some clients to plan to reduce their drug dose, although very few planned to dispose of their drugs.
- The results showed that clients with a positive fentanyl test were more likely to intend reducing their drug dose, but there was no clear link between the test results and plans to dispose of the drug.
