Microplastic ingestion is common among marine turtles, with every turtle studied (n=102) found to contain synthetic particles regardless of species or ocean basin.
The majority of detected particles were fibers (n=811), with blue and black being the most prevalent colors; other types, such as fragments and microbeads, were also identified, marking the first discovery of microbeads in large marine vertebrates.
