InterestHigh interest

The subject of caffeine tolerance attracts high interest, evidenced by enthusiastic phrases like 'marvellous' and repeated calls to read the study, reflecting curiosity and engagement.

EngagementModerate engagement

Many posts reference specific details and implications of the research, such as the need to avoid daily caffeine intake and the potential for dependence, indicating thoughtful participation.

ImpactHigh impact

The widespread sharing of the study and recommendations for optimizing caffeine use suggest that this discussion influences how individuals view caffeine consumption for performance, with some considering changes to their habits.

Abstract in brief

  • The study investigated how tolerance develops to the performance-boosting effects of caffeine when taken daily over 20 days, focusing on active but healthy participants.
  • Results showed that caffeine initially increased peak cycling power significantly, but this benefit decreased over time, indicating the development of tolerance after about 15 days.
  • Although caffeine maintained some ergogenic effect up to 18 days, the diminishing gains suggest that the body gradually becomes less responsive to caffeine's performance-enhancing properties with continuous use.]

Eso sí, la cafeína genera tolerancia. Para aumentar la sensibilidad basta con suprimir la administración durante una semana. Algunos ensayos afirman que puede crear también cierta dependencia o síndrome de abstinencia. ☕☕ https://t.co/0k3yQe1gYA

@DraperOr @FreedomWFoxy Please read this study: "Time course of tolerance to the performance benefits of caffeine" (PMID: 30673725) Basically the study is saying that caffeine definitely improves performance, but if you do it all the time you'll get used to it and it no longer improves performance.

New study suggests you do need to abstain from caffeine in advance of using it as a performance-booster, although the effects are still seen after habitual use. https://t.co/RDwrP5wu81
