Abstract in brief
- Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is the most common type of peripheral vestibular disorder, characterized by brief episodes of vertigo triggered by specific head movements.
- Diagnosis typically involves physical tests like the Dix-Hallpike maneuver or supine roll test, and is often managed through repositioning techniques, with the particle repositioning maneuver being especially effective for the most common type of BPPV.
- In cases where BPPV is severe or recurrent, surgical options like canal occlusion may be considered, although many patients benefit from in-office treatments without the need for surgery.

Good morning. Enjoy today’s bits of happiness as much as you can. That’s my thought for today. I had a bout of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo earlier. The fact that it was not terrible and is gone now is something I’m happy about.

I have BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo), a condition in which the calcium carbonate crystals in the inner ear, which are used to detect movement, become loose. You can treat it with exercises where you lie down, turn your head about 30 degrees to the side, and sit up abruptly.
Ouch. Best wishes. I have officially reached the (st)age where I've had 'a fall', rather than merely 'falling'. Fractured elbow. Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.
GP suspects it's benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, rather than labyrhinthitis, as no prior infection.
"Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is the No. 1 cause of vertigo. Except when it’s actually not the cause. Vertebral artery compromise can mimic BPPV and should always be considered in cases of “atypical” BPPV." From: hearingreview.com/hearing-loss... #keeplistening #vertigo #bppv
If it's benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), you can often get relief at home by moving your head through some strange-seeming motions (such as the Epley Maneuver; there are others as well). You can find how-to videos easily with an online search.

I suffer from a thing called Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo and turns out, since alcohol causes swelling of the inner ear (that’s why we all shout when we’re lit), when I drink, I get so dizzy I get VERY sick
Are you familiar with the Epley maneuver for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV)? (I can’t stand up fast, and have felt this while lying on my left side.) [FYI to all: BPPV is an inner ear problem. Vertigo is the feeling that you are spinning or that everything is spinning around you.]
I do, yes. It may be benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, what I have. Can be brought on by stress but also just sleeping weird. Usually goes away on its own but there's the Epley maneuver you can do at home. My mom and I both developed this in our 30s, love that for us

BPPV is not fun! (Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo- for those playing along at home) The physio definitely helps! Hope it’s not too bad- for something they say is usually not recurring mine likes to come back every 2 years or so.

You might want to try the Epley Maneuver, in case it's Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo. It's easy, you can do it from home, it shouldn't do any harm if that's not what's going on, and it's basically instant relief if that is what's going on and you do it right. :)
Some know this, but I have BPPV, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Mostly fine most days, and I sleep almost exclusively on my right side, but the last few days, it's been kicking my butt.
