Abstract Synopsis

  • The study reviews how the timing between first diagnosis of atrial fibrillation (AF) and catheter ablation affects the likelihood of AF recurrence, finding that shorter times (less than 1 year) are linked to lower recurrence rates.
  • Analyzing data from six observational studies with almost 5,000 patients, the researchers found that delaying ablation beyond one year increases the risk of AF returning, although more research is needed to confirm these findings.
  • The results suggest that earlier intervention with catheter ablation after AF diagnosis may improve success rates, but further studies are needed to determine the best timing and how to incorporate this into current patient care.]
