Abstract Synopsis

  • A new CRISPR-Cas12 test has been developed for detecting SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, which works in just 40 minutes.
  • The test was validated on samples from 36 COVID-19 patients and 42 patients with other viral infections.
  • This method offers an easier and quicker alternative to the standard CDC RT-PCR testing, showing high accuracy with 95% positive and 100% negative predictive agreements.
