Abstract Synopsis

  • This study used data from over 100,000 UK Biobank participants to explore a variety of modifiable factors related to the prevention of depression.
  • Researchers identified 106 factors across lifestyle, social, and environmental domains and focused on individuals at risk for depression through genetic and life event assessments.
  • They found that while many factors were linked to depression, only a few, like social support and television watching, had strong causal evidence, highlighting the need for further validation in prevention strategies.
