Abstract Synopsis

  • This study reviews and analyzes how individual responses to low-carbohydrate (low-CHO) and low-fat diets impact body mass, highlighting that personal differences in weight loss can be significant.
  • Researchers compared data from 25 randomized controlled trials with 3340 participants, assessing the variability in body mass changes between the two dietary groups.
  • The analysis found that the pooled standard deviation of weight response was 14 kg, indicating considerable individual variation, and concluded that there is no strong evidence to suggest that low-CHO diets produce different levels of response variability compared to low-fat diets.
